Nigiri sushi is also called “nigirizushi” 握り寿司, literally translated in Bulgarian as “sushi without surprise”, and the word nigiri (ni-giri) means “two fingers” in Japanese. Nigiri sushi is made from two components: rice in the form of a ball, topped with a thin slice of raw fish called “sashimi”.
